moveero Glossary of Terms
Bead Seat: The point where the tire mounts and seals against the rim.
BiW: Body in white (E-coat and not painted)
Bolt Pattern: Sometimes referred to as the PCD (Pitch Circle Diameter), the bolt pattern refers to the number of lug holes and the diameter of the imaginary circle they create.
Disc: The centre piece of a wheel, to fit to the hub can be fixed or adjustable, round or square. It’s purpose is to transmit load received from the axle to the rim and tire.
Drop Well: The lowered area where the tire bead drops during tire mounting. Having this drop makes it easier to manoeuvre the tire during mounting. It is the smallest inside diameter of the barrel of the wheel.
Dual: Two wheels mounted to increase stability, minimise soil impact and increase safety.
ETRTO: European Tyre and Rim Technical Organisation
Five Piece Wheel: A wheel made from five components,
Flotation: Putting more of the tire’s rubber in contact with the ground, enabling them to “float” on the ground surface e.g. mud, fields, crops.
Infini-Forge ™: A wheel designed with increased rim strength and a high load capacity providing a 50% increased wheel lifespan to conventional equivalents. Suitable for material handling.
Lug Holes: The openings where the lug nuts are inserted and fastened to the vehicle studs during wheel installation.
moveero™: Formerly known as GKN Wheels, moveero was established in the UK in 1908 manufacturing automotive wheels. The business was renamed to moveero in 2021.
Multi Piece: A rim manufactured using either 3 or 5 pieces. Provides high load capability and used on heavier construction equipment.
Negative Offset: The mounting pad is behind the wheel centerline (towards the vehicle).
OEM’s: Original equipment manufacturers.
Offset: The distance in millimeters from the wheel’s imaginary centerline to the mounting pad.
PCD: Pitch Circle Diameter.
Positive Offset: The mounting pad is forward of the centreline (away from the vehicle).
Profi-Fit™: A wheel designed to enable easier & faster tire mounting of low pressure tires. Ideal for agricultural machinery, a triple well design.
Profi-Flex™: An adjustable wheel with 16 offset positions, which can be manually adjusted to work with different row crop widths.
Profi-Flex HS™ : A wheel with 16 offset positions, which can be manually adjusted to work with different row crop widths, with a unique patented spacer, is suitable for vehicles up to 500HP and speeds of up to 60 km/h.
Profi-Grip™: A Patent protected design that eliminates risk of tire slippage, Profi-Grip utilities the Profi-Fit (Triple Well) rim profile and provides improved contact pressure between tire and rim.
Profi-Hub™: A hub with increased carrying capacity together with significantly longer service life, improved performance and simpler servicing.
Profi-Line+ ™: A wheel developed specifically for agricultural trailed and other load bearing vehicles and provides a five-fold increase in fatigue life.
Profi-Lite™: A wheel with a new disc design to enable weight reduction.
Profi-Tuff™: Designed for the forestry industry which is more than 16% thicker than any other products on the market and its feature a 90 degree bent-over flanges, offering maximum stiffness and protection.
Rim: The outer edge of a wheel that holds the tire.
Rim Diameter: Rim diameter is the distance from the base of one flange to the base of the opposite flange. The measurement does not include the raised portion of either flange.
Rim Width: The width of the wheel as measured from the front bead seat to the rear bead seat.
Rim Types:
- W – Narrower rims
- DW – Standard (Double Well)
- TW – Easier tyre fitting, stronger, light weight (Triple Well)
- DC – Light construction (Drop Centre)
- SPDC – Light construction (Single Piece Drop Centre)
Single Piece: A rim manufactured as a single piece. Available as W, DW and TW profiles. Used on agricultural and light construction equipment.
Three Piece Wheel: A wheel made from three components.
Tire Pressure: The amount of air inside a tire. Affects the performance and efficiency of the machine.
TPMS: “Tire Pressure Monitoring System”, these valve stems are part of an electronic system in your tire that monitors the pressure in your tires to notify if your tires are over or underinflated.
TR&A: Tire & Rim Association.
Valve Guard: Protective device used on off highway machines to shield valves from damage and debris.
